2025 Letter Writing Campaign
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Matthew 25:35-36
Join Luke Alliance and Christians around the world in writing letters to our brothers and sisters imprisoned in China. While we may not be able to visit them, we can flood the prisons with letters of encouragement.
Why
If these letters are delivered to the prisoners, which is unlikely, they will serve as an immensely encouraging source of hope and show of solidarity.
If these letters are intercepted by the prison guards, they will proclaim the gospel to the jailers. It is common for the persecuted Church, both in China and throughout the world, to pray for their captors. Through these letters, we are coming alongside them to share the Gospel with prison leadership.
If enough of these letters are sent, they will become a way for us to collectively hold the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable for their actions. A forgotten prisoner is almost always treated worse than a remembered one. If 25, 100, or 1,000 letters are sent to Beihai (where most Zion Church prisoners are held), Jintang (where Wang Yi is held), or other prisons, it well send a clear message to the CCP that the global church is aware of and takes very seriously their actions against Chinese Christians.
How
Write a letter of encouragement (see below for some ideas of what to include).
Address the envelope to one of the names below and use the address provided.
Apply sufficient postage (if mailing from the U.S., one global forever stamp is enough for a 1 ounce letter).
Let us know when you send a letter by emailing us or tagging us on social media!
What
Offer words of encouragement, hope, and reassurance of God’s providence.
Express gratitude for their faith and perseverance.
Provide assurance of prayer and remembrance.
Avoid criticizing the Chinese government or prison leadership. On the contrary, assume officials will read the letter and thus take the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ even in the face of persecution.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to put my full name on the letter?
A: While we feel it’s not dangerous to provide your full name, no, you do not have to write your full name. You can just sign with your first name.Q: Do I have to write my return address on the envelope?
A: In the U.S., you don’t have to provide a return address, but check in your country if you need to do this. While we do not expect any problems, if supplying a return address is needed in your country, consider using your church’s address.
