The Persecuted Church Lacks Care

The global church, particularly in the west, is really good at caring for people after a crisis. We raise money, send supplies, rebuild houses and churches.

But when Christians find themselves being persecuted, there are often no resources available to them. They fall through the cracks of care that exist for ministry leaders.

And that’s a need the Church can meet

To be an Ally is to CARE

There are people in the world who are being actively persecuted every day. Caring for the persecuted church requires a consistent presence that seeks to connect, advocate, restore, and empower the persecuted Christians we support with long-term relational presence.

This presence aims to improve the lives of the persecuted church. But the double bottom line is that those of us who become Allies also undergo change for the better, and we learn more about God's work through ourselves and in the world.

There are four ways we CARE for the persecuted church:

  • Connect: We connect the persecuted church with relationships and resources, both within their countries of origin and with the broader global church.

  • Advocate: We advocate with diplomatic officials, influential civic leaders, and national governments to ensure the just treatment of the persecuted church.

  • Restore: We restore persecuted Christians to their ministries and help them reconnect to their identity with God through pastoral counseling, trauma therapy, and wellbeing retreats.

  • Empower: We empower persecuted Christians to remain in their ministries or, when necessary, to evacuate to a safe and sustainable location.

There is a place for you as an Ally:

Becoming an Ally of the persecuted church takes many forms:

  • Caring: volunteer your expertise to help a persecuted Christian or family connect to resources you know about worldwide.

  • Advocate: Write letters to local and state officials on behalf of the persecuted church, hold awareness conversations in your faith community or social circle.

  • Restore: provide needed services in the mental and physical health space for Christians who desperately need it.

  • Empower: Put a team together at your church to welcome a new family to your community, financially support a new family in a new ministry context, or support the Luke Alliance's day-to-day work.
