Current Advocacy Efforts
Luke Alliance longs for the day when no Christian is persecuted because of their faith. While persecution occurs throughout the world, advocacy is most effective when efforts are focused on specific cases. Below are several such cases for which we are currently advocating. Date Detained: October 10, 2025
Charge: Illegally using an information network
Summary: Mingri (Ezra) Jin founded Zion Church in 2007, which grew to be the largest church in Beijing and among the largest church networks in China. He was arrested as part of the largest nationwide crackdown against an urban house church in 40 years, along with nearly 30 other leaders from over 7 different cities. 19 of these leaders are still in prison, including Ezra, who is being held in Beihai No. 2 Detention Center in Guangxi.
Date Detained: May 17, 2025
Charge: Using superstition to undermine law enforcement; Fraud
Summary: Leader of Light of Zion Church, an influential house-church in Xi’an. 3 weeks after his arrest, his wife, Pang Yu, was also arrested and charged under the same accusations as his accomplice. They are being held in Beilin Detention Center in Xi’an.
Date Detained: December 9, 2018
Charge: Subversion of state power; Illegal business operations
Summary: Wang Yi was a human rights advocate and legal scholar at Chengdu University before stepping down to become a pastor. He was arrested in the middle of a service along with 100 members of Early Rain Covenant Church, including his wife. While other church leaders were eventually released, Wang Yi is still being held in Jintang Prison in Chengdu.
